CH-1305 and CH-1566 modified nano silica sols
| CH-1305 | CH-1566 | |
|---|---|---|
| Composition | Modified nano-silica sol polymer | |
| Appearance | Pale yellow, transparent liquid | |
| pH | 8.0–9.5 | 8.0–9.5 |
| Solids | 27 ± 1 % | 28 ± 1 % |
Added to metal, wood and architectural paints, they increase adhesion, hardness and abrasion resistance. They are used in heat-resistant coatings rated for about 1000 °C, as the base for thick fire-retardant coatings, and in exterior and interior inorganic wall coatings. Zero VOC and zero formaldehyde. CH-1566 is the more widely used of the two and gives coatings better storage stability. Packaging: 140 kg drums; shelf life 6 months at 5–35 °C.
GHS1368 inorganic silicon resin
- Composition
- Modified nano-silica sol polymer
- Appearance
- Pale yellow, transparent liquid
- pH
- 9.0–10.0 (keep the pH in this range; it is not stable outside it)
- Properties
- Low VOC, low combustibility, high hardness, high adhesion
- Uses
- Exterior and interior inorganic wall coatings; Class A fire-retardant coatings
- Packaging
- 140 kg drums or 1000 kg IBC, or to order
- Storage
- 5–35 °C indoors; shelf life 6 months
Fire-retardant coatings
Inorganic binders do not burn and do not release toxic halogenated smoke. That is why they are used as the base of fire-retardant coatings for timber, steel and building boards. CH-1304, CH-1305 and CH-1566 are used as the base for thick fire-retardant coatings, and GHS1368 is designed for Class A fire-retardant coatings. In research, silica sols are also combined with phosphorus and boron fire retardants to fix them in timber and improve their water resistance.
Every fire-retardant coating must be tested and certified as a finished system to the standard that applies in your market, such as EN 13501-1 or ASTM E84. We supply the inorganic binder and work with your formulators on the system.
